Tournament Blues
Ominous photo of Cologne cathedral for scene setting…
Actually, it wasn’t all THAT bad. Just a regular run of the mill droop in good luck and a blip in the bad luck.
The first day was probably the worst. I could feel it in my bones that I wasn’t seeing what the other players were doing. I couldn’t read the discard pool in the way I usually could. There could be down to a number of factors; I wasn’t having a good day and/or some of the players were newer and harder to predict.
The second day and I felt I was back on my game. I could read the table properly and with a bit more luck, I felt that I would have pulled in some better results.
The organizers filmed one of my tables on the second day where my sense of fair play managed to lose me a good position… I won’t spoil it here in case the camera did catch the full scene. I’ll post it up when they do!
What’s the takeaway?
1) Improve my game (always ongoing)
2) Look after my health better (I can’t expect my brain to work if I don’t look after it)
I ended up 37/52 overall with -32.9k so really not a bloodbath. Just a middling result really. And there is always next time…
Getting back to writing here daily starting from tomorrow. More discard reads I think to start. Hope you enjoy if you’re reading!
