Beyond Mahjong Strategy
In the run up to the European Riichi Mahjong Championship, I’ve been looking at how e-sporters get on top of their game.
This is probably stating the blindingly obvious but my overworked and messy lifestyle is probably not conducive to top mahjong performance… In clear Gemma-style, I’m trying to get into a better state about two weeks before the event. Many would say I’ve missed the window. But it’s all about marginal gains, right?
So up until I board the train for the Netherlands (so environmentally friendly!), I am on a strict regime of no alcohol (that’s a lie - two beers a week so I don’t bore myself to death) and daily exercise. I actually take a yoga class twice a week so this isn’t a massive leap. I just need to add 5 gym sessions a week and I’m there.
Food… No more processed crap and sugars. I’m eating salad once a day and plenty of vegetables. My gut flora isn’t going to know what hit it.
Also, more time outside for the vitamin D. I’m probably trying to replace a 20 year deficit at this point (Sims and then the internet), but like the national debt, I’m going to reduce it one minute of sunshine at a time.
I really hope that it’s going to result in some clear progress because then at least I can make a mint from the fitness DVDs I’ll sell after.
