That's a wrap!
It’s over! WRC 2020 2021 2022 is done! There were times I despaired that we would ever be able to deliver the event for WRC fans but with Lena’s amazing work, it was delivered and successfully delivered! There were kinks but I think everyone came away thinking it was worth it.
As if to properly complete the Coronavirus vs WRC story arc in my life, I came down with Covid almost immediately on arrival home… I have a lot of tying up work for the event but that’s all been put on hold for a week or two.
It is nice to not have it hanging over my head every morning when I wake up. I’m not going to lie, it is a relief. And I realize even more how much it ate into my time to actually play mahjong. As I’ve gotten older and the responsibilities pile on, time is at a serious premium.
How does one break through those barriers to our game despite full time jobs and family responsibilities? I guess that is the nut I have to crack in the three years before WRC 2025! (That’s in Tokyo if you didn’t know already!)
The first step is going to be recriminations. I tried to keep a few notes on where it all went wrong. I started off strong and I could feel that I was playing well but then I lost it. I could FEEL the moment when I lost it. I never got it back and I spent seven hanchan flailing. It was frustrating (not that I had much time to feel frustrated as I ran around organizing).
Sigh. Three years to fix this.
